Bring an air sickness bag - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

The movie was great! The action sequences where good but it's hard to tell what's going on because the screen is shaking and rolling all over the place. When the action subsides for a moment the screen steadies out and you can see what is going on. I found myself wondering what just happened.

Read this review for an accurate account - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

I can't say enough good things about this movie. The character Jason Bourne is quickly becoming one of my favorites. This movie is so smart as is the first one. It is the thinking mans action movie. I am so sick of these mindless action movies like XXX or Bad Boy 2 etc. etc. When ever you watch a an action movie there are so many plot holes and you always ask yourself why would he do that or how did he do that. What is great about Bourne is he does everything for a reason and everything is explained to you in the movie if you pay attention. For instance why is he using his own passport to travel and then you find out that he is doing it on purpose so he is detained and then in turn can find out who is after him. The action and psycological warfare he plays with Joan Allen just makes this movie tremendous. Also the car chases. In Bourne Identity he uses the Mini and finds a route that best fits that car and in Supremacy he picks that big car because it is built like a tank and he new he was going to need a strong car because of all the congestion. Little things like that make it so awesome. I could go on and on about all the things that are so smart. I love when paople say that this is a mindless action film when in reality it is they who are mindless. I also know the major complaint is about the camera work which i though brought real grit and intensity to the movie. I thought the car chases especialy were the best aspects of the hand held cameras and wouldnt change a thing. The only scene i would think about changeing is the fight scene with the agent in the house that would be the only time I might have used a steady cam. But other than that I though the movie was shot perfectly. Another complaint I have heard is about the last scene in the movie with the Russian girl. A lot of people thought it was out of place. But I thought that was atremendous scene. What makes Bourne different from other action heros is that you dont know how to feel about him because you know in his past he was an bad man who did evil things. But i think that last scene really brings you emotionally full circle with the character and really adds depth. This review is getting long so i will ebd it here. This is definitly top 5 movies of the year.

Oh my - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

Not a bad story but the camera was so shaky that I felt like I was going to be sick. It was so bad that I couldn't really remain contently focused on what was going on.

Makes your head spin - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

The story is not bad, but Paul Greengrass's directing simply makes this movie unwatchable, unless, of course, you're asking for a bad headache. He cuts and twists the picture without holding a single, continuous shot for longer than 2 seconds!!! Moreover, why the FU6K does he have to jerk the camera so much that I can hardly distinguish the characters from one to another!!!! All time worst visuals! Close up shot of actor's face in almost every scene. If you're one to enjoy the background scene behind a film shot, you'll be more than disappointed. If you are looking for a headache, watch this movie. Heck, try watching this film twice back to back. You're guaranteed to throw up!

A genious cat & mouse chase, thrilling! - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

This second installment of Robert Ludlum's Bourne legacy tops the first without being overdone or underdone as we expect most follow-ups to be. This is a seriously well-cast, well-produced mystery that continues right where we left off. I was horrified and shocked by the people killed in the Bourne Identity, but get ready for even MORE twists! You may think, what could happen in the second after he is finally off the hook from being a CIA operative? Well, as great a place to leave off as it was, more characters and depth enter the mix, and make for a completely new adventure filled with heart-pounding car chases and amazingly choreographed fights! Death lurks at every corner, but viewers are still baffled and unsuspecting. The filming was raw and suspenseful; you could feel the energy and fear through Matt Damon?s convincing performance. The jerky, abrupt movements bring the audience into the action. The on-location filming in Italy, France, and India brought incredible sights and life to the theater. The edge-of-the-seat spy game leaves you wanting more with a cliffhanger that only leaves it up to the final Bourne Ultimatum to deliver a resolution. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and felt like I was pulled through a deadly ride. Afterwards, all I could think was: the cameras/the secret agents are EVERYWHERE! Go see it!

Very poor use of the camera. - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

The intensity and pace of the movie keep you drawn in the entire time. However, it seems that a handheld camera was used for over half the movie. All the action scenes are blurred. In the first movie, I remember the hand to hand combat scenes being very crisp and realistic. In this one, you don't who is doing what to whom. The car scene had some great moments but was way too rushed. The editing was poor as you could never tell where the cars were coming from and what streets they were on. And then there was the bluriness. Overall, the story made for a great sequel. It's just too bad Lyman wasn't back to direct.

The camera-man had parkinson's disease - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

This was a stereo-typical international spy movie. It was otherwise tolerable despite the amatuer calibur camera work. Cameras aside, the movie was hardly entertaining if you werent expecting much. I was very disappointed with the lack of cleverness or cohesive plot. Don't expect a great action movie because in the action scenes, you cant tell whos who or where theyre going!

Bring a barf bag! - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

As in The Blair Witch Project, bring a barf bag because the Director never uses a tripod and you will get very sea sick. Most of the action scenes are so jumbled, again due to a moving camera, that you can't tell what is going on. Other than that, the story was ok and the acting was quite good.

Not bad - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

I really enjoyed this movie. I would have liked it a lot more if it had not been for the camera movements. It was so bad, there were times I could not watch. I felt motion sick after the movie. I hope they do not use the same techinque in the next movie.

A rare sequel that surpasses the original. - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

There are very few sequels that are as good as the original but this one had much better action but I don't think the story was quite as good. If you like fast paced action good directing, and a spy movie that rises above the 007 and MI series then this movie is for you. I thought the plot was mediocre but it was good enough to pull everything else together. Not sure they can pull of a third movie in the series without a substantial dropoff in plot but I hope they find a way because Matt Damon's character is very intrigueing much more so then 007, XXX, can't even remember Cruises charater name in MI right now, and so on.

Proves you can do a lot with a standard plot - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

The story of this movie is not all that different from any other thriller you might see this summer, or any other summer, but the real selling point of this movie is the style and execution of the story. The action sequences of this movie are excellently executed with a manner of professionalism and even wit that I cannot deny. You know when things are about to heat up and people are going to be on the run, but you will not expect what actually happens during the action. The creative direction this movie takes with how the character of Jason Bourne deals with his adversaries is quite ingenius. I cannot say enough good things about the style and art of the action sequences in this movie. What is bad about this movie? Well, the story is convential and a bit tired, but I would not really say this is a bad thing. It is more like a trusty old jacket that never lets you down and always feels good when you slip it on over your shoulders. I wish there was more of an attempt to conceal some of the character surprises about who is really up to what in the movie since it is fairly easy to figure out on your own who did what before any revelations actually occur to this effect. But for any drawbacks this movie has, it more than makes up for in suspense and action, which I would imagine is why people would go to see this movie. If you want the definitive story of your lifetime, then you will be disappointed, but then you are also probably pretty ignorant to expect an action/thriller to provide it to you.

Good story, painful camera style... - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

Good story to the movie but the camera style was horrible too zoomed in and wayyyy jittery, if you are sitting in any row closer that the back row of the theater you may start feeling kinda dizzy, i understand you're supposed to be feeling the intesity of the situations but you should atleast be able to still comprehend whats going on, i honestly had to look away to regain my vision a few times during this movie. eh. good movie bad camera style...

The director should be shot - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

The camera is so shaky you can't see the movie. Just close your eyes and enjoy the plot. All the actors did a good job and the setting were good the sction was good. This director has a thing for visual effects with the camers. He said so in the first movie. That movie was awsome. This one sucked. Go see it for your self and get pissed off

I did get motion sickness... - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

from all of the jerkiness in the camera. I tried watching ith only one eye without success. Is the jerky action some new genre in film making? I would live to have the director wear a contraption that made his vision like that the whole day. Then he may not think it a good idea to use in his next film.

Believe it or not, they did have two steadi-cams.. - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

I won't compare it to The Bourne Identity (a cool movie in its own right), but The Bourne Supremacy was downright terrible and unwatchable. A few could-be-cool fight scenes tried to pull together gaping plot holes, mediocre acting and abysmal camera and editing direction. By now you know that the camerawork is shaky throughout, the ops focus at random objects in the screen (so everything is always blurry) and the editing is so fast and inane that you'll have trouble following the plot, much less a sequence of events in a fight scene. Take it from a television photographer, run, don't walk- away! Go watch Anchorman.

I enjoyed the film, but the actual camera work was - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

annoying as hell. The camera guys & director were out to make a slick, intelligent thriller that would also appeal to the ADD-plagued commoner that needs their MTV. At times, I felt as though I was watching an MTV video or spliced 30-second student?s film.

Newsflash: 5 year olds do filming!!!??? :-( - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

Okay mr. big director who thinks he can use five year olds to do the filming and pay them off with a dollor!!!USER!!! oh wait whats that i hear you did the WORST filming ever on purpose?? And why did you do that sir are you trying to cause an epademic of motion sickness??? Are you the stupidest man on the face of this planet?? wait i know the answer yes you are well it's a good thing that you had some good acting in the movie at least the little bit i could see through the blur of the camra movements. Heres a little hint to good directing: don't only think about what the viewers might like seeing on the screen but what they might feel through there stomaches too okay now that we got that CLEARED up i'm going to take some large Dramamean pills and go take a nice long nap. Goood-bye

Warning....causes motion sickness!!!!!!! - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

I loved Bourne Identity but this sequel was horrible. The story wasn't bad.....if you could watch it. After about 30 minutes, I began to feel ill. The camera shots are too close and VERY shaky. The only time I get car sick is if I try to read while riding. This movie gives you the same sensation. If you are at all vulnerable to motion sickness....DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE. The cinematography truly ruined this movie. What a shame.

The barf supremacy... - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

Like everyone mentioned already, *****ty camera work killed this otherwise good movie. I loved the action sequences, but man I should not have eaten dinner before watching this. The crazy editing is a major minus as well. It seems the director seriously believes in the idea that the average attention span of a person is only 3 seconds long. Every shot has a hundred different angles and its put together to cut between each angle every few seconds. Add to that the shaky camera work and you'll be tasting your last meal all over again as it shoots back up your throat.

The worst photography ever! - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

I liked the story and the acting but the photography literally made me sick. The director of photography has never heard of a steady cam. The action sequences and even the visuals of a wanted poster and phone book were all over the screen. My wife and I both left the theater with a headache. At least a dozen people walked out on the showing. I cannot believe that anyone actually previewed this movie before release.

Great movie wrecked by sophmoric camera art! - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

I hope the producer gets his act together and does not let this director on the set again! The "Bourne Idnetity" was great, and I was thrilled when I found out there would be another installment of the character played so well by Matt Damon searching for peace and an explanation, while trying to survive in the shadowy world of espionage. Well, the original director became a producer and the current director ruined the movie. The camera work did not allow me to get into this movie as deeply as the "Identity", and although I did enjoy the moments when the camera was not shaking from one scene to another, fragmenting the storyline, the camera work made it far less satisfying. I would expect this type of craft from second year film students.

Where's my barf bag!! - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

I literally walked out of the theater feeling sick to my stomach and with a bad headache. The camera work in this film SUCKED!!! Even when they showed a close up of people's faces there was a jiggle to the camera. The action scenes were terrible - simply a blur with no distinguishable images. This the WORST example of camera work I have EVER seen!!!! The redeeming qualities of this film are the acting - Matt Damon did an EXCELLENT job in his role - and the story was good too. I would NOT recommend this film to anyone who is suceptible to motion sickness, OH, and defnintely don't sit close to the screen.!!

Sick about it. - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

I was so looking forward to this movie; I loved the Bourne Identity. However, this new director (Who I'd like to give a swift kick-you-know-where) filmed the movie in a way that I was sitting in the back on the floor, closing my eyes during most of the movie. I know he thinks it is cool that he made people nauseous with his camera tricks, but I can say it will cost him at least a little money. I often go see a movie in the theater more than once, rent the movie and buy the DVD if it is one I particularly like. But I'm stopping at my original $9 investment on this one!

A little different, but just as good - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

If you liked "The Bourne Identity" you'll probably like "The Bourne Supremacy" just as much. A big change for the second movie was the fact that there was way more story and less action than the first installment of this series. The acting left nothing to be desired. Matt Damon showed more acting range in this movie than he did in the first one and Julia Stiles did a great job in her small but important role. The movie also found a way to to draw the audience in by doing a lot more of the camera work "in hand" giving the action sequences a shakey look making it eaiser to imagine you were there. In conclusion I highly recomend this movie to anyone who liked "The Bourne Idenity."

Disappointed... - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed with Bourne Supremacy. The story, like its predecessor, Bourne Identity, was action packed and full of excitement, but the visuals were a bit on the sea sickening side. I felt like I was watching the movie through binoculars with a strobe light in my face. I would have given the movie an A+ if the visuals were slowed down enough so you could actually appreciate all the hard work put into the what looked like awesome action sequences. And I also left the movine feeling like I had missed out on a lot because the camera's zoom lens appeared stuck on the entire time.

Decent movie, horrible camerawork! - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

The acting was great, the story was great, but the camera work looked like it was done by a Starbucks junkie driving over train tracks! I left the movie with a pounding headache and a sense of sadness, as this could have been a wonderful film! If there is a 3rd film in this series - they better get a new director...just ridiculous how this was shot.

This is why movies are made - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

I was a big fan of the original installment, The Bourne Identity. I thought that it was revolutionary that the spy world could be conceived so realistically in a film setting. If you agree with me on these levels, then The Bourne Supremacy is for you. This installment gives you everything that you would expect from the first and more. Matt Damon is perfect for this role. He shows great depth in showing the inner struggle he has to face in the knowledge that he once was an assassin. He is looking for answers and he will get them from anyone, anyway he can. Brian Cox, Julia Stiles, and especially Joan Allen fill in the time between action scenes very well. Quite possibly the best action movie since the first installment. I would recommend this movie to anyone and everyone.

Camera (j)angle - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

It grieves me to give this film anything less than an A+. The acting is right there. Matt Damon is relentless and believable. The story line is much better than the book. As in the first movie, the audience's intelligence is appeased with little details that permit one to believe the unbelievable. The action is everywhere! The whole problem is the jittering, jumping, jammed up camera (j)angle. I like some hand held effect but this was way over done. Many scenes were hardly discernable. You merely got the impression you were missing some really terrific acting. The actors and writers deserved better treatment by the camera. At least that is my opinion.

Ruined by camerawork - The Bourne Supremacy Reviews

Could have been a great movie, Matt Damon was superb as the stoic/confused assassin. It was destroyed by the fad in camerawork where the camera is extremely close up to the action, is constantly jerking randomly, and switches shots so quickly the mind can't follow. The action scenes and car chase were impossible to really see. As opposed to the first movie, you can't actually view the awesome calmness/artlike fighting and driving skills of Bourne and his enemies, instead its a hodgepodge of constantly jerking and changeing shots and angles. I was very dissapointed. The story was good, the acting was good, but the camerawork ruined the movie.
